Back In The Saddle

acrylic 36 x 18 inches

Finally I'm in my studio trying to get into a rhythm. After a bit of an hiatus it's tough to get back in a routine and be disciplined. I did do a bit of plein air painting, some of which I was quite proud of and some not so much, but it was nice to get out.

This particular painting is a little different for me, and I wanted to try something different. I did use my trusty palette knife, but not as much, and did a lot more has a little softer feel and I pushed the composition.
Reference photo below is from one of my walks along Bow River, and found  a calm offshoot pool of water. I debated about adding the fallen branches as pointers but felt it didn't need it.
