Behind The Camp,Tunnel Mountain, Banff

acrylic on canvas 9x12
SOLD
Well I'm back from camping. I went with family and friends who are not interested in art so I only managed one two hour session. This is my very first plein air painting. I went into a meadow behind our camp site at Tunnel Mountain, Banff. It was a good experience except for the wind and realizing how ill-equipped I am to do this. Being an acrylic painter I had to carry soooo much stuff! I now know I need to invest in a plein air easel with tray and some sort of cart with wheels....need to sell a few more paintings first. All in all it was fun ( even making bear calls to let them know I'm here) and I would love to do it again...either alone or with some art people.
Started this with a brush but switched to my palette knife.

That's a very nice first effort! I think you will find that the wind, heat, cold, bugs, dust, dirt etc. are all part of the plein air charm.
